South Dakota and Oklahoma moving forward with Full Practice Authority (FPA)

Posted about 2 years ago by Betty Smith-Campbell

South Dakota has introduced a bill to retire the collaborative agreement and the JOINT BON and BOHA regulatory structure. Their bill passed the house and is now at the desk of the Governor!

South Dakota's FPA Bill Gets a Supportive Fiscal Note

The measure to require Senate Bill 61 complete a fiscal analysis of the impact of the bill is complete. The Fiscal Note returned showing that the state could anticipate a savings of over $71,000 annually by retiring the requirement that an NP maintain a collaborative agreement for the legal permission of an NP to practice and retiring joint regulation by the Board of Medicine. SB 61 will be up in for a floor vote later this week. Full bill details are available.

Oklahoma has also entered a FPA bill this session and is slowly moving forward. First time ever that a bill for FPA has been voted out of committee.
