from Amy Siple KAPN President: APRN law effective date clarification- wait for Board of Nursing reply

KAPN members,

The full practice authority law for APRNs and the requirement for malpractice insurance will go into effect July 1, 2022. The certification requirement goes into effect July 1, 2023. We planned to delay the full enactment of this law for a year to give the Board of Nursing (BON) additional time to promulgate rules and regulations. However, due to a language change during the session, our bill will become law sooner than anticipated.

Please be patient while the BON meets with their legal counsel, their APRN committee, and the AGs office to sort out the details of the law enactment. We are working with the BON and will release a frequently asked questions document next week.
