Sunflower Spotlight- Meet our Presenters!

This is the third of four emails in which we are highlighting speakers and topics for the upcoming Sunflower Conference!   • Keynote Speaker: Anna Sarol
We are thrilled to welcome Anna Sarol as our 2023 keynote speaker! Anna is a local Kansas City adaptive athlete and disability advocate. She suffered a spinal cord injury in 2015, during a gymnastic practice her freshman year in high school. Anna will share experiences from her personal experiences with spinal cord injury and recovery, helping clinicians better understand how to support patients through mental health and disability challenges.

  • Influential Political and Kansas Nurse Practitioners

Join us in learning about how you can make a difference in advocacy and political leadership as an APRN! Cathy Gordon is a wealth of knowledge in this area, as an APRN who has been a leader throughout her career and has run for state office.

Cathy, an entrepreneur healthcare provider, has led in the creation of many birth centers. Prior to starting New Birth Company, Cathy was the Founder and CEO of Mercy and Truth Medical Missions free-standing birth center and primary care safety net clinics for 17 years. She has served in healthcare since 1982, starting as an LPN in rural Kansas. Cathy has served in over 40 countries globally, including Latin America, Africa, and China.

Cathy earned her B.S and M.S from the University of Kansas. Cathy is a certified RN, F.N.P.-BC, and C.N.M. She has received many awards including the first recipient of Ingram’s Heroes in Health Care, Kansas City Shining Star Award from the Maternal Child Health Coalition, and received the March of Dimes Future of Nursing Award. She is the author of “All Babies Are Born,” a collection of global birthing stories.

Wondering what it would be like to start your own practice? NP Holly Cobb looks forward to sharing her entrepreneur journey with us. Holly is the owner of Oasis Family Medicine in Topeka, which is a direct primary care practice

 

Prior to co-founding Oasis, Holly worked in immediate and primary care for St Francis Medical Center as well as serving as adjunct clinical instructor for Washburn University School of Nursing. Her areas of special interest include women’s health, office procedures and health across the life span. She is a married mother of three. In her free time she enjoys running, biking , hiking and being with her family.
