Kansas Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Training for Rural APRNs
Posted 17 days ago
The Kansas Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics is offering an upcoming training session this September for the Kansas CARE Network. This offer is available to RURAL APRNs only.
The CARE Network trains medical providers to evaluate young children (ages 0–5) who may have experienced physical abuse or neglect. When a DCF case is flagged for potential abuse, Kansas statute requires written review by a Board-certified child abuse pediatrician. If an exam is recommended, that child is referred to a trained CARE provider, ideally in their community.
The CARE Network is recruiting RURAL physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to join the network (APRNs practicing in the Kansas City or Wichita areas are not eligible for this training) — helping children stay close to home for care with providers they already know and trust. The training is free, including 13 CE hours, travel, hotel, and meals. If you choose to become a CARE provider after the training, KDHE will reimburse the practice $750 for each exam.
There are 35 active CARE providers statewide and are looking for more APRNs, specifically in rural parts of the state, to join the network.
