Dear Members, 
 
Nominations are currently being accepted for the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Excellence Award, which recognizes an APRN in the State of Kansas. It highlights outstanding contributions to quality patient care, teamwork, ongoing education and stewardship. When considering a nomination, please incorporate attributes from the KAPN Mission Statement and Core Values that are exemplified by the nominee. 
 
KAPN Mission Statement
  1. Promote advanced practice nursing excellence in practice, education and research
  2. Collaborate with others in shaping the future of healthcare, including health professional agencies, organizations and individuals
  3. Provide leadership and direction for advanced practice nurses in the areas of legislation and regulation
  4. Build a positive image of the advanced practice nursing role; and 
  5. Be a valuable, reliable information resource regarding advanced practice nursing
Nomination Criteria 
  • APRN must be practicing with an unencumbered license as an APRN and practicing in Kansas for a minimum of 2 years
  • APRN must demonstrate incorporation of the mission of KAPN through clinical and administrative duties
  • APRN must exhibit clinical expertise through utilization or propagation of current evidence-based practice through treatment recommendations and healthcare team/patient education

  1. Describe and provide examples of how the APRN collaborates and administers excellent patient-centered care
  2. Describe and provide examples of the APRN as a role model in pursuing personal development in evidence based clinical practice, pursuing personal development in evidence based clinical practice, supporting healthy team dynamics, and adapting to the ever-changing needs of patient care
  3. List specific activities or accomplishments at local, regional or national levels that promote excellence for the State of Kansas 
  4. Describe why this nominee's achievements, patient care and teamwork is exemplary among their peers
  5. Describe and provide examples of how this nominee has demonstrated leadership by fostering development of others
